Patrick Beirne is a homebuilding industry executive with over three decades of experience, a track record of operational excellence, sound strategic planning, and an ability to excel in competitive markets and environments requiring infrastructure and business development.

Patrick uses his industry experience to position the Company to deliver exceptional solutions for Nelson’s customers. He works with each department to drive key initiatives focused on profitable growth, product quality, customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and people development.

Before coming to Nelson, he served as PulteGroup’s president of the central area and regional president of the western United States. He worked on creating the strategy for the firm’s long-term vision and directed half of the U.S. homebuilding operations. 

Patrick was a key partner in the acquisition and creation of Nelson Pipeline Constructors, LLC, in April 2015. Patrick is currently the Chairman/CEO of the Company.

With extensive construction and financial expertise, Brian has built a solid foundation of operational support at Nelson Pipeline. His focus is team-building to bring together individuals, equipment, and systems to excel in today’s competitive construction environment. Key areas of attention include effective safety, resource utilization, enhanced project execution, appropriate insurance and risk mitigation, and financial accountability. 

Brian has been instrumental in developing enhanced budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting tools that provide key data indicators of performance, driving positive results. He has extensive experience ensuring contract compliance with various contract structures for both government and private entities. This variety of insight has allowed him to work on commercial, governmental, institutional, and infrastructure projects. 

He earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration and a Master of Accountancy. His professional career began with Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young –EY), where he audited some of the world’s largest engineering and construction companies, including Fluor Daniel and CRSS (now Jacobs Engineering). He left public accounting and worked in management and executive roles throughout the United States and the Middle East.

Joe VanAelstyn has an extensive resume of operational expertise. He directly supervised crews, managed individuals and multiple projects, and directed a team of project managers, superintendents, and associated field craft. He provided a crucial role for senior management teams on $400 million and $1 billion heavy civil mega-projects. 

He received a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and immediately delved into managing projects for general contractors and home builders within Colorado. This diversification in work allowed him to build relationships along the Front Range and the western U.S. and develop the necessary skills leading up to his current position at Nelson Pipeline Constructors.

Joe received his MBA from Colorado State University, which he utilizes to further develop his team’s skills and assist with 360 – degree management to provide feedback on improving the systems and processes on operational feedback to other internal departments. Safety, quality, labor and equipment utilization, subcontractor buyout, and JIT delivery of material are just a few of the many items discussed regularly with the PMs and key field supervisors on improving ROI across every project. Joe helps ensure Nelson achieves its yearly KPIs and maintains its advantage in the industry.

Jeff Reckard oversees estimating activities for Nelson Pipeline Constructors. Jeff supports Nelson’s growth strategies by managing the development of all bid qualifications and customer recommendations and assisting with bid reviews and interviews. His career in the construction industry, specifically in underground utilities, spans more than 40 years.    

Utilizing his depth of knowledge and experience, Jeff focuses on maximizing the utility and usefulness of the company’s operational resources. He works closely with the firm’s CEO, project managers, and other leaders to ensure projects are bid with a complete scope and executed with the proper resources. Jeff’s experience is valuable in ensuring compliance with specific municipality codes and requirements and providing many opportunities for value engineering.  

Throughout the years, Jeff has followed his passion for improving his skills in the estimating field. He began his career as a laborer and developed his skills to become a foreman. Jeff applied this operational knowledge to earn a position as an estimator. He has repeatedly proven himself a vital leader to Nelson and our partners working with him.
